'Bande A Part' seems like a no-brainer by Jean-Luc Godard, but has remained intact over time as a 'Pulp Fiction' avant-la-lettre. Something happens to a robbery, there's some pop-pop-poof and things go all wrong, but it's some unforgettable experiments that stick with you the most. Godard unceremoniously cuts out the entire tape during a minute of silence, the three protagonists break the record "running-through-the-Louvre" and a memorable dance takes place in a cafe.

Not a "nouvelle vague", but a "nouvelle vague Godard". Distinctive, such as the threesome he presents in this film, which come across as a stylistic exercise by the filmmaker.

"Since no one has anything to say, we'll have a minute of silence" and that's what happens. This and other moments in the film prove that Godard belongs in the "Authorism" chapter.

Thought of reviewing "A bout de Souffle" again and I ended up in "La bande Apart" and Godard has remained Godard, glorifying or crushing or just making the most of it.

That voice-over was occasionally funny and crisp.

This is a disappointment for fans of the genre, but I can imagine that this is an ideal film as an introduction to look for better material afterwards. A freely accessible film, but because of that it just lacks a bit of spice to become really good. It sometimes seems a bit forced, but luckily the trio of the protagonists can be enjoyed with Anna Karina on top. Here and there some legendary scenes that give the film a better result than expected. The film is especially good for its film-historical impact than for its quality 55 years later.
