Mediocre film about a woman who wants to become a football coach. A teacher/student film of which there were several at the time. Typically a product of its time. Clichéd characters and the story is only poorly developed. Goldie Hawn does a nice job, but doesn't manage to save the whole thing. Furthermore, this film marked the film debut of both Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes.

Typical work from the Reagan Era, with capitalist propaganda, which you often saw in films from that time. A good American was someone with a fighting spirit, because that was the only way you could make it in life. The US is not a country of and for losers. Everything here is based on winners and losers.

Wildcats is also such a film, with the strong man (Bruce McGill) who sends the representative of the weaker sex to a problem suburb of Chicago where she has to train the local shit crew for the upcoming intercity competition. This of course to make fun of her. After a difficult start, she manages to gain the necessary respect. She also has to fight privately, with an ex-husband who wants to enforce custody of the children.. It is all well-intentioned and with its heart in the right place and an always infectious Goldie Hawn saves a lot, although it remains a very generic 80s film without surprises and with too few real laugh moments. Also featuring Woody Harrelson who, after many years as a bartender in the TV series Cheers, finally started his film career and still had a blonde head.
