Paul Verhoeven's first film is actually pretty bad and he doesn't like to be reminded of it either, but I was able to have some fun with this curious piece of cinema. Discovering a story in it is quite difficult, in fact the life of the whore Greet (Ronnie Buurman) is followed. Bizarre (and hilarious) sex scenes are dutifully interspersed with the worries between her and other characters, which are nevertheless funny. Not really high quality, but with a length of one and a half hours this is manageable.

Far from great, but quite entertaining. That entertainment was mainly in the bizarre role-playing games that are played, with the chicken coop as the highlight for me. A story is woven around all those role plays to tie everything together, it all has little to do with it, but it has its charm, and the atmosphere is also pleasant.

Visually not too much, what you get in return is the atmosphere of Amsterdam in the seventies. The same applies to the music, but it fits nicely with the general atmosphere of the film.

Many celebrities also spot: a nice role for Piet Römer, Sacco van der Made comes by, just like Carry Tefsen, and Paul van Gorcum shows up as a wedding official, just like in Turks Fruit.

Ultimately, I like this film better than Turkish Delight, it contains little drama, has no pretensions at all, making it much easier to digest. 2*.
