Less than two weeks before the election, the president of the United States is accused of sexual misconduct. The White House enlists the help of adviser Brean, a brilliant schemer and image-builder. Brean devises the ultimate scenario: he creates an even bigger and better story and stages an impending war between America and Albania, the fictional enemy on duty. To make this unlikely story more believable, Brean turns to flamboyant Hollywood producer Motts and his entourage. Together they orchestrate unprecedented global conflict.

The script is very sharp and, 20 years later, still extremely topical. It is all of course exaggerated, but the point being made is nevertheless clear. This is partly because it is so thick, along with the necessary humor and a good cast. Certainly Hoffman plays a wonderful role and has some beautiful dialogues (it's nothing!).

Excellent film in which an adviser masks a scandal surrounding the president by making up a lie. A sharp satire about fake news. Thick, but it is delivered in a believable way. Entertaining, certainly not too long and a good cast in which Dustin Hoffman stands out. A small 4.0 stars.
