Charming film about a charming bank robber. The film is charming but also a bit meaningless and monotonous. The movie is fun but a bit bland at times. The film has an original premise but is also clichéd and predictable in its development. With that, the film succeeds in being a pastiche of the crime thriller with romance from the 70s, but it is nothing more. In short, the film is doable but does not leave a lasting impression.

I couldn't get really excited about this swan song by Robert Redford. I found it all rather tedious, so much so that at one point I dozed off. I suddenly woke up at the chase scene. This film was sympathetic, though. Forrest Tucker who robbed banks not so much for the money but just because he liked it. And then there are numerous escapes. It's that the whole story is based on facts, otherwise it would come across as very unbelievable to me. The acting in this crime comedy is otherwise fine, but again the whole thing didn't really interest me and I think I quickly forgot about this film.

Sissy Spacek really didn't impress me at all in the past. But as she gets older, I think she gets more beautiful and beautiful. Is it because I am older myself, or because I see better? Anyway, I like to see a movie in which she plays, even if it's just a small part like this one.

But besides that comes Robert Redford. With a very nice role, although I have to say that he is perhaps just a bit too old for what the story needs. Yet he gets away with it, and that is mainly due to his charisma, the way in which he gets everything done without any effort with a crooked smile.

And that's what makes the movie. Even more so than the absurd story, which really kind of happened that way. Really happened.
