Just fine again.

Although I find it increasingly difficult to write about Wes Anderson films, simply because I feel like I have to say the same thing over and over. Visually sound, those framed shots are still great. I thought the use of color could have been a little better, but this was visually the coolest scene I've seen from Anderson so far (just after the helicopter crash). Those animated bits were also beautiful in their simplicity. Humor again not really focused on that one line or point, but that's fine. I can have this much better. Under the skin, absurd, often in the details. The acting is also top notch. Bill Murray has a great character to fall back on, but also plays it with a lot of cool. Cate Blanchett is sweet, I'm starting to appreciate Owen Wilson (especially thanks to Anderson) better and better and Jeff Goldblum can do little wrong with me after The Fly and especially Jurassic Park. All again typical Anderson, although there is one aspect where this film stands out above others: the soundtrack. There's Sue Jorge on guitar, of course, but there's also David Bowie, Iggy Pop (great scene by the way), and especially Sigur Ros in the final scene. Worthy ending for this movie.

Thick 3.5*. On to the next!

Nice.

As is often the case with Wes Anderson. But just like so often: no more than that. It's in there somewhere, but unfortunately I'm still just hungry with Steve Zissou and co. It's just not funny enough, just too long, .. you name it. That's not to say I didn't enjoy this movie.

I do. Anderson's style is again very recognizable. His movies look great. Great care, decorated with many details and embellished with warm colors. The well-known characters also join in one by one. Unfortunately I don't like Bill Murray enough to be a lead for two hours. The game with the characters works better in my opinion if they alternate enough. That works well for a number of actors, by the way - think of Owen Wilson and Cate Blanchett.

In any case, I still find Anderson a very interesting director. There are still about 3 of his films waiting for a first viewing. Hopefully there is still something in there that really appeals to me.
