"When the Ghost WALKS... They RUN!"
Mary Carter inherits her family's ancient castle, located on a small island off Cuba. Despite warnings and threats, she decides to go there, accompanied by a flight host and his butler. After realizing that the castle is haunted, they find the key to a treasure.

Nice, light-hearted film about Paulette Goddard who has inherited a haunted castle - at least according to the rumours. It is seldom really funny, and I agree with my upstairs neighbors that it takes a very long time before one ends up at the castle. Nevertheless, there is a good pace in the film, and it still looks nice. Successful entertainment for an empty hour and a half.

When radio host Larry Lawrence [Bob Hope] thinks he's accidentally shot Ramon Maderos [Anthony Quinn], he hides in the luggage of Mary Carter [Paulette Goddard] who is on her way to a remote castle that is said to be haunted. When Larry emerges he is constantly joined by valet Alex [Willie Best]. When Mary receives a death threat, Larry decides to become her "ghost breakers" to ensure her safety in the haunted castle.
The title is misleading, as the heroes only get to the castle in the last half hour. But both Goddard and Hope (helped by a barrage of one-liners) are in good shape. The finale is entertaining with atmospheric direction, very decent special effects for that time and a sharp sense of humour. In this more enlightened age, the role of Willie Best (a black actor who plays a valet who is just as cowardly as Hope) may seem a bit offensive, but as comedic actor Bob Hope, Best proves to be equal to some of the funniest ones. liners from throughout the movie.

Mediocre Bob hope comedy in which he doesn't act so clumsy for once, unfortunately there isn't much to laugh about either.
It is all rather tame , the romance plot between Hope and Goddard does not come across as believable , although the duo is nice together .
