Abel Frake is the father of a family eagerly awaiting the upcoming regional party in Iowa. Abel hopes to win a prize at the fair with his bred pig. His wife Margy enters a meat-making contest, son Wayne wants revenge on someone who beat him before and daughter Melissa is happy to get out of the house. They even have some romantic developments in store for them.
