Shvedskaya Spichka plot

'The Swedish Match' is a parody of a detective story and describes a provincial town in Russia, around the end of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. A young inspector is confronted with a murder drama that revives the entire virtually sleepy town. His research has certain superfluous elements, because everyone knows everyone in the small town. In this research, the provincial mentality of the inhabitants as well as the Russian bureaucracy come to the fore. In the course of the investigation, the inspector threatens to lose his only chance at the real job due to unforeseen circumstances…
