Nice, but a bit disappointing.

I am, and used to be, an avid fan of the game. One big pile of rancid, uncompromising cynicism, which I can only speak passionately about. Boll certainly does a number of things well with Postal, but also leaves some stitches.

The fact that Boll is little concerned with political correctness argues in favor of the film, but it sometimes lacks the really sharp, villainous edge, which was prominent in the game. Certain scenes are really nice (the cat, segment with Boll himself), but sometimes it is also downright bland and adolescent. In the end, it's all a bit bland.

Ward isn't doing badly, but I think his character itself would have benefited more from a different approach. Where The Postal Dude was a nice cynical bastard in the game, he is more of a klutz here. Furthermore, I would have preferred to see another actor in the Postal Dude's shoes. For example, someone like Billy Bob Thornton would have been perfect for this role.

But otherwise this guarantees an evening of amusing entertainment. Boll who once again displays his apparent hatred of humanity, but this time in comic form. And that's laughing. Only, unfortunately, it is light years away from the brilliance that imbued the video game. 3.0* stars.

Changing feelings!

Well, what was this again? I wonder how they came up with this story now. I have nothing to do with games.

But to come up with something like that, you have to have a few screws loose. blush At times the humor is really peasant and ridiculous, but there were also times when I thought it was funny. Children and innocents are simply shot. Religion is put in his shirt. Political correctness is out of the question here. Not an ounce of respect to be seen, not even in other areas. Boll's homeland is also well taken care of here. As the film progresses, the whole thing gets a bit less and especially the last fifteen minutes is disappointing. The movie ends and you feel like something is missing somewhere. Despite the stupid story, the film managed to entertain me enough and therefore just a six.

Well.

Die Boll isn't a bad director, but he can be a bad director. Here too, it regularly proves that he can also be quite useless when it comes to directing. Although Boll always has the balls to conjure up something that is quite daring. Postal is certainly one of those.

But Boll really remains a director who comes into its own best if you take away a large part of the budget. The best things come from the smallest money. With a solid budget, lesser things come out. The 15 million for Postal was really too much.

The humor is wrong and daring. But actually secretly nice. At times I felt quite guilty, but it works in the end. A large amount of jokes and pranks that roll across the screen and quite brutal jokes in between. An opening with 9/11 and the shooting of a large group of children are moments to forget.

But that actually makes it special and fun. However, in terms of action, the film is completely useless. Ugly brought action in which Boll didn't even seem to have done his best to present it all decently. The only moment that was visually okay was the ending where Bush & Bin Laden walk hand in hand through the field.

So action is very ugly and lifeless. Everything is quite clumsy. Boll might have been better off opting for a slightly more raw approach, because this isn't very good. Despite this, it is thanks to the very daring (and therefore also successful) humor that cuts in firmly and is sometimes even remarkably topical, that Postal is not an annoying sit.
