Nutcrackers plot
Work-obsessed Mike must reluctantly travel to rural Ohio to care for his four rambunctious nephews. This is because their parents died in a car accident. What starts as a three-day journey to find a foster home turns into weeks of chaos on the farm - and the realization that he doesn't have to find a home for them, they've already found one for him.

Nice to see Stiller play again. Unfortunately, the beaten paths are walked again and you know from the beginning how the film will go. The cast plays quite nicely but otherwise it is not really that great. Therefore not sufficient.

Mediocre film about a man who suddenly has to take care of his four little nephews when their parents have died. The balance between comedy and drama is especially lacking in the beginning, and slowly the film becomes more entertaining. A predictable course and predictable characters. The main character is also poorly developed (especially how he suddenly becomes fond of the children). Nice to see Ben Stiller in front of the camera again.

After the sudden deaths of his sister Janet [Melissa Gelfin] and brother-in-law [Jeff Janson], Michael Maxwell [Ben Stiller] leaves his busy schedule to take care of some paperwork regarding his nephews Justice [Homer Janson], Junior [Ulysses Janson], Simon [Arlo Janson] and Samuel [Atlas Janson]. He hadn't expected social worker Gretchen [Linda Carellini] to inform him that he would be given temporary custody of his nephews until she could find a suitable foster family. The boys are home-schooled and not exactly exemplary, and Michael wants to stay in close contact with his boss Carol [Ari Graynor]. Things don't go well, but that will change, of course. Starts like a variation on Meet The Parents with a poop and fart joke and Stiller comes across as indifferent, even as the sentimental story builds to its inevitable happy ending. The ending is original, but seems like it came from another movie.
