“Excuse me ma'am. We have a 300lb weight limit.”

“I don't weigh no damn 300 lbs. I weigh 165! How YOU doin'?”

Painful. With the right equipment, Eddie Murphy is an excellent actor, and in the 80's/90's he was one of the best comedy actors. But those days are long gone, and Norbit is simply a horror. The humor, the different characters Murphy plays, the stupid story, the other actors etc. Nothing works. Hopefully Murphy comes back strong because this was painful.

The first movie I saw this decade, while I already had Chernobyl and Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood ready. I had already seen Norbit last year, but I felt like something light-hearted, after all that fucking fireworks and that annoying Claudia de Breij, whom I only watched for ten minutes; how funny is that woman.. To put it the Hans Teeuwens way: she is just as funny as a dead child.

No, rather a comedian like Eddie Murphy, always hilarious. His voice especially, one moment very innocent and sweet, the next very angry, as only black people can do. And the many types of course: from a replica of Prince to the goofy Norbit himself. But as a woman, Eddie Murphy is at his best: Rasputia, a bitchy Big Momma with super long nails and an ass that you say U to. Her brother comes by with a huge pile of mega pizzas, she says: 'Oh, I'm so hungry!' ...joh She also sprinkles salt on her pizza, and not so economical haha. And always those donuts on her finger. I just couldn't help but laugh at what she does with that poor dog. What a bitch dude.

2020 couldn't have started better for me.

Norbit was for me (and maybe a lot of others) the movie too much in which he did his dressing up with mainly fat people. You could say that the film cost its Oscar for Dreamgirls. His role as Rasputia is therefore very irritating and exasperating. But behind that stupid interpretation was a beautiful romantic story. And the cast itself is not bad for this genre. All in all, the film is still okay.
