Wonderful Bob Hope movie! He is clearly on a roll in this video, the pace is also very pleasant! I think it is one of the faster films from the 1940s, because of the short running time the story remains interesting and entertaining and Bob knows how to use the time well with his one-liners and facial expressions.

Madeleine Carroll is also a very nice co-star, it certainly wouldn't have been a punishment for Bob to be able to do scenes with her.

This is a what you see is what you get film, it does exactly what it should do but at a very entertaining pace and with a creative effect.

4*

Especially in the beginning Hope's jokes are pretty lame to the point of being annoying, later it gets a lot better, the interplay between Hope and Carroll works well, although the other tense moments are pretty weak.

All in all a reasonable comedy, partly due to the variety and the speed of the story.
