Nice horror/comedy with good b-actors (except the sheriff, that's a disaster).

for me personally a pleasant reunion with Rory Calhoun, hero of so many westerns in the years

50,60 and70.

Only the very last could have been finished better; or had they counted on a sequel?

"Hotel Hell" does what it has to do well.

And that's fun!

The film entertains the viewer with a good touch of horror interspersed with 'black humour' and that is well done in this film. It strikes me after reading the reviews from the viewer(s) that they come across as rather negative here on MM, but just like 'Jeroentjuhhhhh' indicates; 'the film gets a well-deserved Arrow treatment! That says a lot about a movie, right?

I keep wondering who got what kind of meat and how the meat tastes at all in "Hotel Hell".

As for our sheriff, many complain about the best man's performance, I lean towards it too. It could indeed be less amateurish, but as a whole, I didn't find it really annoying.

Also nice: A secret garden, in which the food is partly prepared.

Unfortunately a trailer is missing here, so here it is: Motel Hell (1980) trailer - YouTube

I've known Motel Hell for a long time, when I was just getting acquainted with the horror genre. Actual viewing took a while, however, until someone recommended it to me. It was all quite disappointing, but I can hardly say that the film is not original. Where they got the Motel Hell concepts from is a mystery to me, but it does bring some extra life to the brewery. Less strong is that the characters make little impression. Lousy acting by the protagonists and the villains come across as completely charismaless. Calhoun doesn't do a bad job, but a role like his demands a lot more and Motel Hell gives him nothing but a pig's head. Director Connor also does not get enough in terms of gore, so that a film with a quite promising title mainly leaves a good impression. Always a shame, because the heart was in the right place and for some time the film remains unpredictable.
