Mixtape plot
In 1999, 12-year-old orphaned girl Beverly Moody discovers a broken mixtape compiled by her teenage parents who died in a car accident when she was a baby. Raised by her grandmother Gail, herself a former teenage mother, Beverely sees her chance to finally learn more about her parents. She goes looking for the songs that were on the cassette tape. Along the way, she befriends her quirky neighbor Ellen, the tough Nicky and music store owner Anti, who is the key to finding the songs.
