A bit cringy at times, but overall a very strong comedy. Especially thanks to the strong Theron and Rogen. Who besides being hilarious also have a top chemistry. Also a few nice winks and supporting roles. Especially Bob Odenkirk as president is a genius. Often really doubly situated with the film, just like the rest of the room. Didn't happen very often in the cinema lately.

4*

Extremely successful comedy with plenty of chemistry between lead actors Rogen and Theron.

The film still manages to come up with some nice angles for a comedy. Just the sex scenes which do the exact opposite of what you expect (woman cumming too fast, asking for spanking to the man's surprise) were amazing.
Bob Odenkirk has a nice supporting role as a completely clueless president. The other supporting characters weren't as memorable.
Seth Rogen can count me among his fans by now. Movies with him again and again have dialogues that are less contrived than in some other comedies, much more natural, and therefore much funnier.

A film that uses Roxette in terms of soundtrack is a success anyway.

Moderate

Did she at Crawl already think that I (read: Moviemeter hard core ) actually watch too many movies. At some point, more than ever, you get to the point that you can draw every movie after the first scene, or perhaps even when reading the synopsis. So does the argument that I've seen all this before make any sense with this movie? Probably not. That's probably why you're watching it.

Still, even within the predictable nature of the film, I think it's a bit too easy. The pinpricks about the political world and how women are viewed are too cowardly. Then you can say, well it is mainly a romantic comedy. Airy, not too heavy. But with all the content that comes out, I think that's such a meager reason to make a film. Like a Rogen or Theron, you want your film to do something, that it could at least become a classic...this felt like all these people were going for a six. I think that for this star power and moment in time is actually very poor. Why wouldn't I give a low rating?

2 stars.
