Pastor Walter Goodfellow is so busy writing the perfect Mass that he doesn't realize that his hapless wife Gloria is having an affair with her golf teacher and his children are doing all sorts of bad things. Fortunately, there is the new housekeeper who tries to fix everything.

Fun, melancholy British comedy. The whole story keeps your attention from the beginning to the fun. Rowan Atkinson, Maggie Smith and Kristin Scott Thomas and Patrick Swayze are well cast. Especially Maggie Smith as killing mother. The role does her good as a sweet old granny. In short: just a very nice black British comedy. 3.5.

Kind of black humor comedy where good old Maggie Smith, even with a name like Grace, shows no mercy.
The British flair and jokes are unmistakable in a quite enjoyable comedy that should not be taken too "seriously" with very neat acts, also by the youngsters, and in which Rowan Atkinson still manages to get rid of his Mr. Bean figure. get there, though....

Fun and sometimes also warm, with a fine Rowan Atkinson who fortunately doesn't turn this into Reverend Bean, Kristin Scott Thomas excellent as always, Maggie Smith giving the plot a firm push, and Patrick Swayze stealing the show in his horny string thing ( although the male part of the audience will probably be more interested in the beautiful Tamsin Egerton as daughter Holly). Echoes of Arsenic and old lace, a nice ambiguous title, and nice pictures; very entertaining British black humour, everything neatly in place.
