Just reconsidered today. I must say that I had something else in mind for the film, I had forgotten the fact that I couldn't keep it dry . The story is not that spectacular, the plot description already tells a very large part of the story. However, how they act, how everything is put together, amazing! It seems very difficult to me to act as a ten-year-old as a man of ±40 (no idea how old he was then). How Williams put this down, cheers! The children are all good in their roles, as are Jack's parents. I'm not normally a fan of Lopez as an actress, but in this film I didn't get annoyed by her for a second, perhaps partly because she had a fairly small role. So don't understand very well that it has been chosen here to put her in the credits instead of Zolotin, for example, who has taken on a much larger role.

The aging Jack left little impression on me, more the fact how the story is told. Initially children full of prejudice, followed by a close friendship between these same children and Jack. Predictable? Yes, I don't think there was a moment in the film that I thought 'I didn't see that coming'. I think this partly belongs to this genre, I know few films from this genre that are not predictable. I enjoyed this movie, can't really think of any negatives, except that the shit and pee humor could have been less.

4.5*

Mediocre film in which a woman prematurely gives birth to a baby that grows four times as fast as a normal person. A nice premise and in that capacity Robin Williams is perfectly cast. The mix between comedy and drama doesn't work well here. It's just not it all. One thing is clear: Francis Ford Coppola has delivered better films.

A special film, that is without a doubt a fact. The fact of the film is found to be special. A film about a man whose body ages four times faster than his mind. This film is set during the time he is in school. So from his tenth to his seventeenth. But with a body that's forty when he gets to school and sixty-eight when he finishes. And that is also difficult to watch and I understand the low rating for this film. Because it is difficult to place the film. It's basically a youth film for adults in this way. And hardly anyone feels comfortable with that. Although there are sometimes very funny scenes in the film with nice finds. However, the film has two strong assets. The leading role is for Robin Williams and he knows how to play his role very convincingly like no other. I have yet to see how another well-known actor would have fared here. Robin Williams was a very good choice for me. The other asset is the director. Francis Ford Coppola isn't exactly the first one either. But despite the large amount of good films to his name and his rich experience, he does a little less here in this film. Unfortunately, he chooses too much for the great American cliché approach here, and certainly towards the end, that detracts greatly from the film. In fact, he ruins what Robin Williams has built up so well. And that's why I don't get further than three stars. In any case, the fact of the film is interesting and daring.
