It's a Wonderful World plot

Ray Thompson and Ken Miller are two not very talented songwriters. One day they manage to sell a song, concealing that they have put existing music on a cassette tape backwards. Instead, Ray and Ken say it comes from a genius musician who lives in seclusion. The song becomes a hit, but this embarrasses Ray and Ken deeply as they are asked to come up with the play's writer.
