The story is about Grump, who prepares for his death. All the work is done, his wife is dead, life has no meaning anymore. The old fellow is even busy making his own coffin. His granddaughter Sofia is in trouble: the 17-year-old city girl needs her grandfather's stubbornness and wisdom – and the warmth of his fireplace. The stubborn old man and the young city girl grow closer.
