Il Padre di Famiglia plot
Two architecture students fall in love after the war and get married, although his idealism clashes with her pragmatism. Because they have a series of unplanned children, she has to give up her career, while he becomes increasingly alienated from his starting points due to a confrontation with construction speculation. He blames his family for his failure; her attempts to support and stimulate him result in a nervous breakdown.
