Good and interesting film. As mentioned before, it doesn't quite reach the level of BJM and, to a lesser extent, Adaptation. Still, another interesting script from Kaufman; extremely funny.

Quite a disappointment. I expected so much, but unfortunately, it never quite reaches the level of any other Kauffman production.

But other than that it's a pretty fun little comedy.

As someone who always looks at Kaufman's writings with interest, I decided to watch this "lesser" one. It is indeed lesser. I kept reminding myself that Kaufman is linked to it, but considering it comes after Being John Malkovich, it's a strange sensation. It feels quite B-movie-like, with sets you can see right through (those forest scenes ), but maybe it's all meant to be kitsch.

Aside from the storytelling, I didn't really connect with Kaufman. The deeper layers are certainly interesting: our urges and animalistic freedom versus urban sophistication. The various glimpses of desire, not only sexual but also, for example, in Puff's final scene toward the woods. It's certainly there, but the low-budget execution and mediocre acting make it all feel a bit pathetic.
