Moderate display.

A stoner film is not known for its quality, but this fell through the lower limit. And were it not for the fact that I had had at least five beers and a few glasses of wine, because otherwise my rating would have been considerably lower. It's off to a pretty good start with two geeks getting to Harvard thanks to intelligence-boosting weed. You think they're going to mess things up a lot. That's just disgusting.

The film is so incoherent, the editing so sloppy. All kinds of characters appear out of nowhere, introduction is completely absent and they disappear just as easily. At a certain point, even for a stoner movie, it was no longer possible to tie the knot. The joke density is also very low and consists mainly of the usual African-American "humour". Lots of stupid jokes about racial differences between whites, asians and niggers. Terribly bland and dated. Give me Harold & Kumar; at least they can joke about these kinds of issues in a fun and fresh way.

Pretty overrated movie. 2**

-Bufu!

bufu?

-By us f*ck you!

A comedy that has to be completely up your alley to enjoy it. It is an entertaining film, but after several revisions it becomes a lot less. In terms of content, a weak story with a lot of coarse language, a number of hectic situations and a number of crazy characters, in which Redman and Method Man play nicely together as two students who light things up and therefore end up among the rich kids.

Very drowsy.

How High contains an ideal lesson for up-and-coming film talent in the field of directing. That lesson is: how can you ruin a film with a solid concept and quite a few resources at its disposal? This movie is one of the biggest setbacks of the current month. I expected a smooth film, but got a dubious result.

For starters, How High has a cast that can't touch a comic note anywhere. Method Man and Redman play the lead roles. Too bad their stage names are funnier than their acting here. There is actually not a single funny joke, rather tiresome jokes. It goes on and on, but the funnier jokes never come from them. The same goes for the other cast members.

The best humor is often in some brutal images in between with the use of drugs. This film sometimes has wrong humor that is quite rude, and those form the best scenes. These scenes are scarce, however, and How High ultimately consists mainly of annoying humor with extremely boring characters and a very predictable story. Painful to think of because the story wants to be unpredictable and wrong.

The pace is barely there and the story is quite tiring. The concept should provide a lot of nice ideas, but director Dylan does not get any further than some noisy characters, a lot of drug references and some screaming. It might work for some people, but I find it mostly lazy and exhausting, and besides that, so many other movies are doing the exact same thing.

No, this wasn't him. Horrible and pretty bland movie. A lot of humor relies on the use of drugs, but in the meantime these jokes have been completely exhausted and this film never manages to add an innovative element to it. A tiring film that never seemed to end. Unfortunately, a bombastic finale does not change that much. Pity.
