House-Rent Party plot

In Harlem, Shorty is thrown out of the house by his wife. He does nothing useful and is reading detective stories all the time. His wife would rather have a man who earns a salary, rather than one who finds himself in debt. When Shorty runs into his comrade Pigmeat, he begins to complain to him. The hairdresser friend explains that he also has money problems. Then a Pigmeat customer comes up with a plan.
