Happythankyoumoreplease plot

"Go Get Yourself Loved"

Sam (Josh Radnor) is a New York writer who can barely make ends meet. He lives free from responsibilities and does not depend on anyone. This all changes when he sees a boy who has lost his family. A friendship develops between the boy, an orphan, who has moved from foster home to foster home in his short life, and Sam, who makes the perhaps unwise decision to take him in.

Excellent film about a couple of friends from New York who all struggle with their own (relationship) problems. Nothing innovative or surprising, but still a more than fun film. Airy in tone with a pleasant tempo and ditto soundtrack. Sometimes funny and sometimes touching. Sympathetic characters filled in by a sympathetic cast. I have 4 more words for debut writer/director Josh Radnor (who also takes the lead role): Thank You, More Please.

Radnor's debut film, in which, compared to Liberal Arts, he is still a bit searching in my opinion. Camera use differs a lot and is not always pleasant (lots of close-ups!), the soundtrack really serves as filler (which is not so bad) and the storyline around the two friends are quite loose and add little to the whole film . In addition, the acting is very good.

Yet the film lacks that pleasant flow and a certain surprise that would allow it to stand out above the average. Nevertheless, I have faith in Radnor, he combines nice characters with ditto humor and soundtrack. Just a nice looking movie, not too sweet, not too bland. 3*

Romantic nonsense about difficult relationships. Nothing special, but not bad either. Just look good.
