Happy Go Lucky plot

Itinerant singer John L. Cole performs under the moniker 'Happy Jack' and is referred to as 'Hap' by his friends. Hap sings in the Shanghai Follies where Mary Gorham confuses him with the pilot Bill Lyons. Mary convinces the bewildered Hap to visit her father, aircraft manufacturer and radio tycoon Charles Gorham. Charles also thinks that Hap is Bill Lyons and that he suffers from amnesia. The Gorhams are overjoyed to have found him, as Lyons disappeared while flying a top-secret plane, which the Navy fears sold it to foreign concerns.
