It's a dark night at the water's edge. A family of musicians encounters the mermaids (sirens) Silver and Gold. After assuring the family that they won't eat them, the lovely mermaids are encouraged to join "The Figs and Dates band" at a neon-lit dance club in Warsaw. While Silver falls in love with the beautiful blonde bassist Mietek, Golden grows more cunning and can no longer suppress her bloodthirsty nature. Golden fears her sister's relationship will cause their shared dream of swimming to give way to a new life in America.

Very nice film that takes elements from all kinds of genres and merges them into an eccentric whole. Not all musical pieces work equally well and towards the end it all became a bit less playful, but otherwise there is little to complain about. Two strong leads, visually nice style (lots of blue and green), nice and weird at times and the mix between genres keeps the film constantly lively. Big 3.5*.

A horror musical from Poland about mermaids 
Admittedly musicals usually don't really work for me, but with the focus on the horror challenge and about mythical sirens, the film deserves a chance. The story is not much, which in itself does not really have to be a problem given the genre. There are many other plus points that can be added. Unfortunately, that is a problem. The mermaids are never threatening and the easy way they could just hang out with people doesn't really come across. The music pieces are not really annoying, but they do take away from the pace of the film and do not provide any added value. Some gore here and there and the two girls are often seen naked. Just not my thing....3/10
