Class plot

"The good news is, Jonathan's having his first affair. The bad news is, she's his roommate's mother!"

Jonathan is a simple, naive boy who goes to a rich school on a scholarship. He moves into a room with the rich, tough Skip. Skip sees it as his job for Jonathan to lose his virginity and sends him to Chicago. There, Jonathan meets Ellen, a beautiful middle-aged woman, and they begin a relationship. This ends abruptly when Ellen finds out his age. Months later, when Skip is invited by Skip to celebrate Christmas at his house, he is in for a big surprise.

Still an underrated Brat Pack/High School movie here on MovieMeter. Especially in terms of humor this movie scores high with me. The first hour regularly in a fit of laughter thanks to the very creative boys at the school.

The actors really make it a lot of fun as far as I'm concerned, Lowe is very funny, McCarthy is nicer than in Pretty in Pink. But especially Cusack's role stood out as the ear of all the students. Very nice to see him in his early works.

Bisset is the ideal 80s MILF and the story is very fresh and witty despite being told several times.

It also provides some depth to the characters, although it does get a bit too cloying towards the end.

One of the better student life movies, with quite a few acceptably funny moments and a spicy twist.

Those young guys play smoothly and beautifully, and actually also Jacqueline Bisset, in the role of the upset woman in midlife crisis.

Moderate.

The Graduate - sort of - but with an unnecessary drama sauce for me. Drama that never really gets off the ground, because once the punch line is a bit clearer, hardly any attention is paid to it. The combination with the high school theme is a difficult one. Class therefore mainly feels unbalanced.
