The successful lawyer Marcello visits his son Michele, who is doing his military service in a harbor town. Marcello never really cared about the boy, because he thought his career was more important. Now he showers Michele with gifts. But Michele is not waiting for this and wants something else from his father than a sports car and a nice house.
