Case Départ plot
Half-brothers Joël and Régis have nothing in common except their father whom they barely know. Joël is unemployed and blames French society for all its misfortunes. Régis, on the other hand, is fully integrated and prefers not to be reminded of its African origin. When their father dies, they inherit a document that tells of their ancestors as slaves. Unaware of the symbolic value of that document, they tear it up. As punishment, an old, mysterious woman sends them back to a time where they themselves are sold into slavery. The two brothers are now obliged to work together.
