"Happiness has no formula"
Douglas Varney (Sam Rockwell) is a meek small-town pharmacist trapped in a loveless marriage. When he begins an affair with a woman (Olivia Wilde), she introduces him to a world of sex and drugs. However, things start to get out of hand when they start a conspiracy to kill her husband.

What a lame mess.
Occasionally it seems to get somewhat funny, but that doesn't carry through. The bottom line is that it ultimately remains a lackluster affair. Perhaps the directors should have grabbed a pick-me-up from the pharmacy instead of the sleeping pill they apparently took.

As a quick watch, this Comedy/Drama was reasonably watchable. The story, a sort of lighthearted drama, is quite fun (though not exactly laugh-out-loud moments, mostly moments that will make you smile), and the same goes for the execution. The ones who make this film particularly enjoyable are the three lead actors: Sam Rockwell, Olivia Wilde, and Michelle Monaghan. I actually always find Sam Rockwell a fun actor to watch, and in this film, he does a nice and creditable job again. Olivia Wilde is in this film mainly for the visual aspect, and she does an excellent job with her blonde hair. Michelle Monaghan was also quite something and gives a nice performance. Because the film only lasts about 85 minutes, it is an easy watch.

A mediocre film about a man who takes action when his life doesn't go the way he wants. The film has a brisk pace and a nice, self-assured voice-over. However, the plot is rather predictable, it lacks some sharpness as a whole, and the characters are quite standard (the fine cast manages to improve things slightly). Just shy of 3.0 stars.
