Still entertaining this one from Herman Yau and with the lovely Anthony Wong Chau-Sang I love this guy, his mimicry too There were actually some comparisons with Ebola Syndrome, but this 'The Untold Story' was probably starter no more. Wonderfully bleak and comic weather that Anthony and indd with a human meat restaurant, suits him well. Also nice atmosphere. Oh great fun for me.

Quite entertaining serial killer film from Hong Kong soil. There is not much mystery, it is immediately clear who the killer is, and from 45 minutes it is also clear that he will be caught, because from then on he is already in prison. But it is still a nice and dirty film, where Anthony Wong steals the show as a murderer, and where the murders are gross but the tone is not too dark. Also because of the flat jokes and jokes that occasionally come in between, usually something with the escorts that the inspector is quite crazy about, but also a bit because of the over the top murders. Not that it really bothered, but it did curse a bit with the grubby suicide attempts and murders, especially the family that is murdered one by one - including four children.

Pretty entertaining film that alternates intense, extremely violent scenes with light-hearted, funny parts. The Eight Immortals Restaurant: The Untold Story is based on a true story from 1985, where during a gambling night in a restaurant in Macau that got out of hand, one of the participants murders the owner and his entire family.

In the 1993 film directed by Herman Yau (who has more tasty Horror works to his name), the same person takes over the establishment and then cheerfully continues with his hack and slaughter work to avoid exposure.

The greatest asset of The Eight Immortals Restaurant: The Untold Story is actor Anthony Wong in the role of the killer, his sick behavior and psychopathic facial expressions are of an unprecedented high and hilarious level. The investigative team of the police in Macau who open the hunt for the 'killer', on the other hand, create quite a few laughable situations. The bumbling of the detectives and officer Lee (played by Danny Lee, also co-director of the film) who comes up with a different temeier on his arm in every scene.

Some murders are considerably spicy and go very far, but by varying them with playful, comical incidents, the film manages to find a good balance.

Something that ultimately, the both disgusting and very amusing The Eight Immortals Restaurant: The Untold Story yields a more than satisfactory score.
