Alyonka plot
Russia 1955, thirteen-year-old Alyonka Muratova moves to remote and harsh Kazakhstan to start a new life there. In the back of the truck she travels in, she meets mechanic Dmitry Prokovich, a young female dentist, the hitchhiker Stefan and his dog, and Vasselina Petrovolka, who has just lost one of her twin daughters to an accident and that the other daughter has to tell her. Together they travel to the places of their destination.
