Faith of My Fathers plot

McCain comes from an old military family. His grandfather and father were admirals in the navy. In the 1960s, as a cadet at the naval academy, he rebelled against the discipline and hierarchy of military life. A similar impulse drove him to Vietnam. As a prisoner of war, he took pride in taunting and provoking his guards. He endured infernal torture. When North Vietnamese authorities wanted to release him as the son of an admiral for propaganda reasons, he refused to leave his cell.
