Excellent film in which the clever dog Gromit helps his owner the silly inventor Wallace out of trouble again. Another beautiful, artisanal stop-motion animation film from the Aardman studios. Nice humor (certainly not too childish) and playful action. The film has a fast pace and a short playing time, which makes it an easy watch.

Wallace [Ben Whitehead] develops a mechanical garden gnome that sings and does all the gardening chores in no time. The attention for this Norbot [Reece Shearsmith] is at the expense of Gromit who is sceptical about the new invention. He is proven right when old arch enemy Feathers McGraw (a penguin that looks like a bowling pin) escapes from prison and manages to program the Norbots to start vandalism and theft. Chief Inspector Mackintosh [Peter Kay] naturally considers Wallace the prime suspect, but Constable Mukherjee [Lauren Patel] has her doubts. Gromit does everything he can to prevent further disaster and prove to Mukherjee that it is an act of revenge by Feathers McGraw. Another wonderful stop-motion comedy full of inventive visual gags, hilarious action scenes and clever built-in social criticism about blind faith in modern technology.

Just a bit more fun than the first long film of this duo. The crook on duty is a lot better (or yes, there actually is one now), some jokes are really strong and the film is just a bit shorter which suits this kind of films. Also interesting in terms of content with the theme around modern inventions, robots and AI and the replacement of people who do their work with passion.
As already said with the other film, this kind of animation will never really be my thing and despite the shorter length, amiable characters and the funny elves (by introducing themselves, very funny) after 60 minutes the party was a bit over. 3.5*.
