Transformers One plot
"Witness the origin."
The surface of planet Cybertron is a mysterious and dangerous place where young transformers are not allowed to go. Beneath the Earth's crust, Orion Pax and D-16, who do not possess the power to transform, nevertheless have sufficient freedom to work and contribute to their society. When they do venture to the forbidden surface, they encounter mechanized animals and plant-like creatures. Their lives also change completely after an encounter with Alpha Trion, who teaches them how to transform their bodies into vehicles.

Transformers One is a typical movie that I would have liked to see as a 12 year old Robert. The Transformers are super cool, there is a lot of action, the humor is measured and there are a lot of great fan moments. Especially the last act is incredibly satisfying. I can already see myself cheering and being happy at certain moments.
As an adult Robert, I can easily get through the abundant exposition with that knowledge and you quickly understand what the contours of the story are and which way it all goes. You can literally see who ultimately becomes who in this origin story and therefore the surprise is left behind.
Fortunately, the high speed of the film means that you are not bored for a moment and you believe the choices that the characters make. That is ultimately the most important thing. Sit back and enjoy some Transformers.

An animated film but clearly more aimed at children, even more so than the animated series from the 80s. Partly visually with those slightly too happy faces (I found that part of the design of the bots really ugly) but also because the story can be drawn from A to Z. After 3 seconds you already know that those two transformers will one day be Optimus Prime and Megatron (hello, those colors! - that yellow robot that comes along is no surprise later either) and that the sweet leader turns out to be a villainis now also to be expected quite quickly. When all that comes to fruition, the film presents it as if you should be surprised.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed myself quite a bit. The action itself is sometimes a bit chaotic but the pace is so high and the voice acting so pleasant (energetic and humorous) that the film really flies by. I also like Transformers as a concept and some designs are really cool. Not a world film, but a piece of fine entertainment. 3.0*.
