A nice sequel, but certainly not as good as the original.

I must say that they managed to put a nice atmosphere in it. In terms of landscape and animals, it looks very Australian. In terms of characters, Bernard and Bianca are definitely the most fun. That Australian mouse adds little and the villain is not very memorable either.

But it looks away quite easily, is not interrupted by songs, etc., and you really have the idea of watching an adventure film. It's not great, but certainly not bad for a sequel.

3.0*

I thought The Rescuers was a very good Disney, with fine voice acting, a nice enemy and decent animation and a somewhat special story. There are a number of elements in this film, but unfortunately too few, and moreover I was annoyed by certain things.

Australia is chosen as a new area. This way you get to see a lot of the flora and fauna, but some scenes add nothing except that they serve as advertising brochures and there are also disturbing errors. Our young protagonist lives just about next to the Uluru - a national park since 1985, so to live there now? - but he will be in the jungle, walking, in no time. And it is really 1500 kilometers further north. Furthermore, there are no crocodiles around the Uluru, nor are there koalas or many kangaroos in the wild. Moreover, many of those beasts appear briefly, but nothing else is done with them, nor with the continent itself. This might as well have played out in the US, Europe or Latin America. However, if you explicitly choose Down Under, do something with that.

The voice acting was fine and you notice that they already have a movie on it. It's just a shame that the role of Bernard and Bianca is so small. It is also good that the Australians (or actually only Jake) have also been given that accent and use terms such as 'mate' and 'no worries'. The humor was mostly bland (terrible slap-stick) but that iguana Joanna was really funny.

The animation, however, was hideous at times, when the computer animation went hand in hand with the traditional ones. Of course, you can do more with it - see the camera move - but mostly I just don't like this. A single scene was still nice, the whole story is nowhere special but quite manageable and also entertaining most of the time. All in all 2.0*.
