Watched this movie and it was an entertaining movie. Less strong than The Lego Movie, but otherwise a colorful film, with a lot of humor and action scenes.

Nice to have seen, but less memorable than its predecessor.

Not good.

It's very easy to be cynical about a movie like this. A well-known toy brand and a large comic franchise that are joining forces to make even more money from the fans. In addition, the original idea stems from a kind of fan love, but has meanwhile been hopelessly commercialized. On the other hand, it is a fairly original combination and it also works reasonably well.

Unfortunately, the films are even of a fairly low standard. The joke density and the pace are indeed very high, but in the end that only turns out to be the case to disguise the lack of quality. With movies with a high joke density, you can't expect every joke to be full, but those lesser jokes disappear a bit because you quickly return to a nice joke ... unless there are really no funny jokes at all.

The humor is so easy, so predictable that it's hardly fun at all. Bland references, a little easy to laugh with clichés and jokes that have been made 100 times before. However, it started well, the intro was actually really funny ... but as soon as the speed started, the humor lost its sharpness and there was not much left.

Visually it was still nice at times. Editing and camera work remain poor, but the CG/Lego look is cool at times, so there is at least another reason to keep a little attention. But otherwise a film that you can easily skip, because despite all the hustle and bustle and all the pace, it is a boring film.

Just like the Lego Movie, the Batman variant also manages to overwhelm especially in the beginning and the dry humor and the gigantic self-mockery are hilarious at times. The visual style appeals to me enormously and also knows how to impress. The only problem is that the humor doesn't work throughout the film and halfway through you have more and more trouble to keep your attention. In the end I don't like the plot of the film enough to enjoy it for the full running time and despite all the pomp and circumstance and the occasional funny jokes towards the end, I secretly hoped for a little more. The makers also admit in the blu-ray extras that they have barely worked with a plot, which ultimately works against them.
