Final piece of the Evangelion Quadrilogy begins with a summary of the previous films. Quite some time has passed since the world became almost uninhabitable due to 'the Third Impact'. Shinji [Spike Spencer] is completely self-absorbed now that he knows he's in direct opposition to his father [John Swasey] and that he's lost his best friends. Kensuke [Alejandro Saab] tries to bring Shinji out of his shell after a part of the world has been made habitable again through the latest techniques. Lasts 150 minutes, but the question is why since this is broadly a remix of the previous films. Given the quality of the series so far, that shouldn't have been a problem, but the experience is ruined by a terrible soundtrack. Piano music à la Richard Clayderman, a Christmas Carol and more seemingly randomly chosen instrumentals only distract. To top it all off, you also get to endure such a syrupy Japanese pop tune (including harmonica solo) at the end. As a music lover, I might take that a little harder than most viewers, but don't say Joe wasn't warned!
