"It will live in your heart forever!"
The three children of the Darling family are visited by Peter Pan, a boy who never grew up. He takes them to Never Never Land where a war is raging with the evil Captain Hook.

Recently seen Peter Pan again. I didn't like it as a kid, but now I don't like it at all. It struck me even more this time how unsympathetic Peter Pan and Tinkerbell really are. I mean, Tinkerbell tries to kill Wendy several times and that hardly has any consequence in the story. You wouldn't be looking for that fairy when she's waving her magic wand so happily in Disney promos. And Peter Pan is just childish and spoiled while still nicely chopped off a hand in the past (Captain Hook's). Peter also hardly seems to care that one of his mermaid sweethearts Wendy almost drowns.
It's all pretty sexist and old-fashioned. Wendy is practically used as a servant in her house while her brothers have fun playing. Other than that, the story is boring. Something happens, then something happens and then again, and it really doesn't matter, because the characters have hardly learned anything at the end.
A 1 star for the beautiful animation.

Pirates, Indians, mermaids and flying children.
A film that mainly has the adventurous aspect rather than the story. A story that is very simple and empty. It therefore seems to serve the adventures more than the other way around. As it should be. Fortunately, the adventures they go on are fun to follow. The search for the Indians is a highlight, supported by a very nice song. This time the songs are of a very variable quality. Furthermore, Peter Pan has quite a few annoying characters. Especially the characters that get a lot of screen time are almost unbearable. I really liked the brothers and the crocodile.
The animations are again very nice. Still really high quality delivered by the Nine Old Men and the rest of the animation team. Especially the flying looks very good. The music also varied. Heard a few beautiful pieces, but also some pieces that don't evoke the right emotions in you. Something that worked better in previous Disney classics.
Peter Pan is a "flawed" movie, but it's entertaining. Especially thanks to the adventures they experience in Neverland. Furthermore, the quality delivered is of a very high level.
