And this movie cost $137 million to make? I remember that I often used to think when I was sitting behind my playstation how cool it would be if people made a movie in the graphics of various cutscenes, but just like with the Resident Evil: Degeneration I noticed pretty quickly that movies really work better with normal actors. And why wouldn't you just use normal actors with such a budget? I can name dozens of science fiction movies at the fraction of this budget that look much better than this product.

Not that it's all disastrous, but the problem remains that the faces don't show enough detail to make the expressions look realistic. The characters seem dead, while the dialogues (which are pretty good by the way) are much more intense than they are now uttered. The voice actors were well chosen in my opinion, especially Steve Buscemi had a nice role and clearly did his best.

The story is a bit esoteric again, which doesn't really interest me. The phantoms also disappoint as aliens and are not very detailed and elaborated in design. Furthermore, it is still a shame that the action is so disappointing, because apart from some nice fire effects, not much more happens than a few soldiers running back and forth and die when such a phantom touches them.

All together interesting for once, but such a budget remains unjustified for me. I would much rather have seen this as a live action movie.

A while ago for me. It remains a go-to movie for me.

Like the first viewing, I couldn't quite get into it. The story about alien ghosts seems too little spent on me. Visually it doesn't grab me because those phantom monsters don't have a face.

However, the film does some things well. Not too many characters and they have enough personality and expression. The latter was certainly well done for that time. They also used very good (and well-known) voice actors.

The Final Fantasy title is quite shoehorned. It might as well have been called something completely different. Purely commercially motivated. Oh well, otherwise I might not have noticed.

Graphically it is not overwhelming (anymore). This quality graphics was already seen on the PS3 (Heavy Rain). But that does not detract from the enormous effort that was made at the time. At the time, of course, with the necessary hype, which has long since been dated (actors who feared for their jobs).
