"He turned his back on civilization. Only to discover he had the power to save it."
A white doctor - living in an Indian community as a medicine man in the rainforest - succeeds in making a cure for cancer. He therefore urgently requests reinforcements from his clients and also receives this in the form of a female botanic to analyze an unknown element in his medicine against cancer. Time is running out as the rainforest is being thinned by the minute, destroying important materials to make the cancer serum.

I forgot for a moment what the trigger was, but this movie came to mind recently - especially the scene where Bracco gets a blue line. I still had that scene in my head from the last time I saw the film - that must have been in the last century.
What I had forgotten in the meantime is her very annoying voice. And the lame story. Where does the idea come from that in the unknown jungle can be found the magic medicine that cures all scary diseases... a laudable effort to protect the jungle of course, but what nonsense.
The characters that Bracco and Connery play get rattled by the cliches. Just like the magic denouement. Too bad, that could have been a lot better.

Nice film about a doctor who finds a cure for cancer in the rainforest. A simple story with just a little more. Enough beautiful shots in the jungle of Mexico (especially the moments in which the two protagonists hang in the ropes). The interaction between Sean Connery and Lorraine Bracco is fine, but it's a bit of a shame that a romance is created. Easily 3.0 stars.
