Burke & Wills plot
"They dared to challenge the unknown. They were the first. They crossed the Australian continent from Melbourne to the Gulf of Carpentaria."
Based on a true story, this film tells the story of O'Hara Burke (Jack Thompson) and William John Wills (Nigel Havers), who set out in 1860 to create the first accurate maps of the interior of the Australian continent. Irish explorer Burke and English scholar Wills traveled north from the southern coast of Carpentaria. Although the first part of their journey was successful, on the way back they and their companions fell prey to immense heat and inadequate food reserves.
