It was clear from the start that this is not a masterpiece. Visually it is sometimes very ugly. The fights themselves are nice. The budget is clearly largely spent on the interior of the spaceships. In any case, 0.5 valuations are once again quite exaggerated. Anyone who disagrees with me about this, I refer to the wheelie bin called The Asylum. Wing Commander is not an exceptional film in any way. The acting is decent, the story is decent, and the characters are pretty flat. The wing commander is unfortunately again a wimp. Putting on a big mouth once, but executing a reckless pilot was out of the question. If that had happened, Wing Commander would at least be original to some extent. The story has little more to offer than an average episode of a sci-fi series. The story doesn't pretend to be great anywhere, except in the description, and it isn't. A tight enough for a film that is entertaining.

This is the kind of movie where you secretly hope that most of the characters will die. The younger pilots in particular are insufferable, rookie Prinze Jr, cranky Saffron Burrows, screaming Matthew Lillard and so on. The older European actors still have enjoyable roles.

The Kilrathi really don't look like much. Unacceptable because even in the games they looked much better.

The scenes in space are adequate but not very exciting.

All in all a nothing burger in space. You better watch the old series Space Above and Beyond. Or Battlestar Galactica. Or even old pulp like Battle Beyond the Stars.
