Going back would also mean seeing the woman he left again, who now has a radio show. However, he still has to be in Detroit for his next murder, and will have to give a lot of people an explanation of where he has been hiding all these years, and what his profession entails.

Pleasant film with a role that fits Cusack perfectly. Driver isn't bad either. Sometimes we had to laugh at the somewhat painful situations that arose here and there. Until the reunion I even thought it was worth a 3.5 stars, but the last part became a bit boring and also less funny. Eighties music that we got to hear a lot gave us some nostalgic feelings for the good old days. Also beautiful are the completely different choices that his former classmates have made and then completely compared to Blank of course.

Overall, I had a great time, but I got a little tired towards the end.

Good film about a professional hit man who goes to his high school reunion. An offbeat action comedy that is largely entertaining, with an emphasis on comedy. John Cusack is perfectly cast and does a great job. Nice dialogues and a soundtrack with only hits (which sometimes works well, and sometimes not so much).

Martin is a hit man. And he's good at it. A professional who, when he takes on an assignment, focuses completely and does his work ice cold. A school reunion and a murder assignment happen to coincide. Always a pain, such a perfunctory reunion. And what on earth should you say when someone asks you what you've done with your life and what you do professionally. Martin answers the question bone-dry with: I'm a professional killer. Nobody takes that answer seriously. The answer is a successful running gag that pops up in a dialogue every so often.
It typifies the humor. Wonderfully sarcastic, sharp and mischievous. Very nice. Grosse Point Blanl is a cross between a High School-Coming of Age movie and a thriller. With excellent situation comedy and sharp dialogues. Nice score too, which provides the scenes with extra cheerful dynamics.
Great lead role from John Cusack who co-wrote the script. Cool, sympathetic, charming. The supporting roles are also well done. Dan Aykroyd, Alan Arkin and Joan Cusack make supportive but fundamentally humorous contributions. Minnie Driver plays the love interest and is charming and well-spoken. It is a beautiful ensemble that harmonizes in a stimulating way with the leading role.
The nice story, the sympathetic and idiosyncratic characters and the fine humor make Grosse Pointe Blank a particularly witty film.
