The story is sparse, the setting is small, and the credibility is questionable.

And yet they managed to make it a very captivating spectacle.

*3.5

Typical Tony Scott.

And that's not something I get excited about. It speaks for the best man that he has always managed to make recognizable films, he is by no means lacking in his own stamp. It's just not my thing. Like most of his films, Unstoppable is one busy, hip affair, in which Scott once again pulls out his favorite tricks: filters, fleeting camera work, nervous editing, an arrogant but tough Denzel Washington, .. In his genre it will undoubtedly be fans. I can't really enjoy it. A film like this quickly becomes tiring, all the more so because it's the same tricks over and over again. In the meantime you will be beaten to death with American nonsense about families or relationships that may or may not be torn apart. I was happy in any case that the train turned out not to be so unstoppable.

Formulation action thriller – “inspired by true events” – in which a train driver [Ethan Suplee] makes a gross error of judgment that causes a freight train carrying chemicals and explosives to hurtle down the track unmanned and at high speed. In a race against time, railroad official Connie [Rosario Dawson] must try to safely divert all the trains on that stretch and get someone on board before the train reaches a sharp bend in a city. Luckily there's Frank Barnes [Denzel Washington], an old hand in the business, and Will Colson [Chris Pine], a novice train conductor. Scott throws open his bag of tricks in this technically well-made, entertaining film, but the screenplay is bursting with clichés, including the tiresome barrage of journalists who explain to us in fictional news reports what the situation is.
