The film opens with a great opening scene. You are immediately in the movie, good music and some humor. After that, unfortunately, it quickly goes downhill. Twists and turns that make no sense and totally unbelievable over the top action. Arnie is good but the rest is not in the least impressive, not least the scriptwriter... Film does end nicely.

What a wonderful movie. A pleasant mix of action and comedy that is well balanced. I saw this a long time ago but can't remember much about it. Because of this, except for a few landmarks, it was again as if I was seeing this one for the first time. Initially, I was concerned that the story would be full of helplessly outdated scenes, such as hacking into a system in Windows 95, but surprisingly this turned out to be not too bad. The action still looks great for 90%. In fact: sometimes even better than modern action films that rely way too much on CGI use.
The final chord goes beyond all limits of the imagination and is completely unbelievable, but the director just gets away with it because he portrays the whole event with a big wink. I was more bothered by two moments that the director should have thought a little more about. I mean by this the truth serum that Harry is administered and of which he seems to feel practically nothing from one moment to the next, and how the terrorists found Harry and Helen in the hotel room was a bit vague for me (or I haven't been paying attention). Are you a fan of over the top action bangers in line with the 80's classics? Then True Lies is still one of the best titles you can see in this field today.

True Lies is a wonderful action film with the necessary very successful comedy. These two genres come together very well here. The two protagonists also have good chemistry which certainly has its influence. The action is stunning for the time. Especially the scene with the jet fighter really insane.
