Very nice and cartoonish movie of Wu-Tang Clan hero: RZA, who clearly has a thing for Chinese legends, Wuxia etc. Where he previously filled the songs with his crew with samples from old Kung-Fu films, can he finally incorporate his childhood inspirations in a self-made feature film...

MWTIF doesn't really contain a story and should have more of the winks to the old Kung-fu movies, but that's okay. It's just enjoying the nice over the top fight/slash and cut scenes and the surprisingly good acting. RZA wasn't bad at all, Byron Mann was back on track as a bad guy, Lucy Lui was also reminiscent of her role from Croughing Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and it was also very surprising that Russel Crowe makes an appearance as a British prospector, and yes... even our old Crowe shows some tricks here and there. And yes, fantasy is in order here too, with that iron man and of course… the iron fists of RZA.

The settings were also nice and typical and it was also very funny that the traditional Chinese music is processed with hip-hop beats from Wu Tang Clan. Certainly not a bad film, RZA had been very creative.

4.0*

Very mediocre. RZA tries to put a lot into this film, but the end result is a cheap imitation of better Asian films. It is perhaps a sign that Crowe playing at half power stands out far above in terms of talent and presence. For the non-critical viewer.

Strange that Tarantino and Roth wanted to link their name to this.
