A good idea: put two of the most hyper-energetic actors against each other and you already have half a movie. A nice script, reasonably sharp dialogues and sympathetic supporting actors round off the matter professionally. As for the latter, LL Cool J is already mentioned above, but the actor who plays the villain (Stephen Lang) we saw later in Avatar among others, and the daughter of the beautiful Annabelle Sciorra is played by a very young (because only 10 years old here) Christina Ricci. All in all, though, this is totally Woods and Fox's film that outperforms each other—the scene at the Frog Dog stall where Woods demonstrates once again how to bring a cigarette to your mouth and Fox gives it to you. trying to imitate is still hilarious. (By the way, the cover of my DVD omits that faint flag from the barrel of Fox's gun above.)

What a wonderful film this remains, brimming with humorous finds and winks. Woods and Fox are perfectly cast and both do a fantastic job as rock-hard cop John Moss and over-the-horse movie star Nick Lang respectively. Simply written down. Action scenes are smooth and full of stunts, dialogues sharp and often hilarious. The many cop clichés are not only magnified, you also see an at times vulnerable cop. And Nick Lang isn't just a spoiled asshole.

The film is wonderfully politically incorrect at times too. Nick Lang very well-behaved on TV: “All my films are shot on biodegradable film”. And then Moss smashes that bat in, bam!

“I want to see a movie without a Roman numeral in it… ever heard of Hamlet II?” "Yeah but you also had Henry V!"

Or Lang may walk along… “Maybe when my asshole learns to chew gum.”

And of course everyone now knows the Frog dog! Hot dog, thick fries on top and a liter of ketchup and mustard on top.

Tiny supporting part from LL Cool J who was also allowed to do the (actually not very appropriate) soundtrack, but he does it funny. This was about the time when people in Hollywood thought “we're going to put a rapper in it too”. Even so, the whole movie also takes a big bite out of Hollywood! Nick's tail at the end!

An underrated gem.

Nice film in which action and comedy go hand in hand. This is pretty underrated if you ask me. Woods comes across as quite hyperkinetic and Fox is not that good as a comedian, but there is gradually a good working chemistry between the two opposites. A few nice action scenes too, including the first one in the beginning and of course a brilliant hell of a closing at the top of a New York cinema . The humor is also quite OK. Enough lines that can make a roar. In short: this is a more than successful and energetic piece of entertainment that you simply have to see.
