"Prey for the living."
The Arab poet Ahmad Ibn Fadlan catches his eye on the beautiful wife of an influential man in Baghdad and he is promptly promoted as ambassador to a far northern region. On the way to his post, the Arab encounters a couple of Norsemen, whose barbaric habits initially fill him with disgust. However, when the blond warriors are called back home to fight the Wendol, mythical man-eating creatures of the fog, it turns out that Ahmad Ibn Fadlan is the 13th warrior prophesied by the seer, who must accompany the mission to complete the mission. .
